We are thrilled to announce the 11th World Conference on Women’s Studies (WCWS), set to take place on May 29-30, 2025, in Bali, Indonesia, with the option to participate virtually. This year’s conference continues the legacy of a distinguished event that has brought together scholars, activists, and practitioners from across the globe to discuss and promote gender equality, women’s rights, and social justice.
A Rich History of Global Feminist Dialogue
The World Conference on Women’s Studies (WCWS) was first established as a platform to create a global dialogue about gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the intersectionality of gender with race, class, and identity. Since its inception, the WCWS has served as an important space for intellectual exchange, political engagement, and networking for feminist scholars and advocates worldwide.
Over the years, the conference has grown significantly in both scale and influence. Each edition of the conference has explored contemporary issues in women’s studies, including feminist theory, gender-based violence, reproductive rights, and intersectional feminism. What began as a modest gathering of like-minded individuals has now become one of the most prominent global forums for discussing women’s issues, pushing the boundaries of academic research, policy discussions, and activism.
The 11th Edition: “Talking Shop: Feminisms and the Crucial Issues of Our Times”
This year’s theme, “Talking Shop: Feminisms and the Crucial Issues of Our Times”, invites participants to explore the dynamic and evolving nature of global feminist movements. The conference will cover a wide range of topics that are at the forefront of feminist scholarship and activism, such as:
- Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality
- Reproductive Rights and Bodily Autonomy
- Media, Technology, and Feminist Advocacy
- Decolonial Feminisms and Activism
A Platform for Knowledge, Collaboration, and Impact
Each conference in the WCWS series has provided a platform for deepening the understanding of how feminist thought intersects with various global challenges. From discussions on gender-based violence and human trafficking to climate justice and economic empowerment, the WCWS has consistently provided space for diverse voices and ideas. The event fosters critical discussions and networking opportunities that lead to actionable change.
The WCWS also serves as a springboard for future collaborations, giving researchers and activists the chance to develop projects, partnerships, and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of women globally. The 11th edition of the conference will be no different, bringing together thought leaders from various fields to engage in meaningful dialogue about the future of feminism.
Call for Papers
As always, the WCWS welcomes paper submissions that explore the latest research, ideas, and activism in the field of women’s studies. Topics can range from theoretical explorations to practical applications of feminist thought. We invite scholars, educators, and advocates to submit their papers for the chance to present their work at this prestigious event.
