Sexism and Gender Bias

SEXISM AND GENDER BIAS

Women from the Middle East are called upon and celebrated as mothers, and representatives of family life and domesticity and are often-marginalized due to the societal expectations of gender roles. Women are barred equality, in fear of scrutinizing the masculinity of the culture. This is a prevalent stereotype that exists in the West of the docile and submissive nature of the Arab women. The patriarchal nature of the Western culture, adhered women to passive roles in society. where women take on domesticated roles like, cooking, sewing, ironing and work hard as housewives and taking care of their families. However, women should be strengthened to decondition themselves from their patriarchal culture. This role will become indispensable for financial, psychological and social well-being.
