Hanshika Herath is a lecturer and a PhD candidate in the School of Hospitality, Tourism & Events at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), New Zealand. Hanshika is originally from Sri Lanka and holds a Bachelor of Tourism Degree from the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, a Postgraduate Diploma in Tourism Economics and Hotel Management, and a Masters in Tourism Economics and Hotel Management from the University of Colombo Sri Lanka. Further, she possesses MSc. in Responsible Tourism Management from Leeds Beckett University UK and Diploma in Management Accountancy, CIMA from UK. Before moving to UK for her postgraduate studies, Hanshika worked as a lecturer in two state universities for three years. Her Postgraduate Diploma and Master research focused on emotional labour and managing expressions in commercial Hospitality in Sri Lankan from hospitality employees’ perspective. Her current PhD research focuses on the social encounters of hospitality. Further, Hanshika chaired Pacific Asia Travel Association AUT Student Chapter for three years and committed to responsible tourism development in Asia and the Pacific.
